Working within the business development function in the areas of capability and category expansion including assisting with assessment, commercialization, and the launch of products from Synergy into the market. This position will work across product and market segment focuses to help ensure Synergy’s products and offering are best in class.
Working with the marketing team across disciplines and initiatives, this position will provide broad visibility to the marketing function at a leading food company and hands on experience with the development and deployment of marketing collateral and assets.

About the Position
This role is a hybrid sales role initially incorporating Inside Sales responsibilities while evolving toward carrying a growing roster of external accounts. The position is based in Wauconda, is responsible for managing all types of sales interactions in the defined territory or roster of accounts. This position will expand sales and Synergy presence for existing smaller revenue accounts through relationship-based selling, act upon leads, and vet new prospects to develop new sales opportunities. The position will be supported for professional development and advancement opportunities with the Synergy commercial team.
The Senior Buyer is responsible for all buying activities for their assigned categories and works collaboratively with all Synergy departments, suppliers and transportation providers to ensure a smooth flow of inbound raw materials for production. Leads strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories. This individual will have relevant procurement experience in the consumer-packaged goods, food or food ingredient manufacturing.
The Research Scientist’s primary responsibility will be to develop and lead a program of encapsulation science with the goal to develop novel food and beverage flavors and innovative processing solutions. The scope of this role includes optimization of existing encapsulation technologies within the business as well as exploration of new/novel technologies. The work will support key strategic growth areas and will be accomplished by collaborating with members of the analytical, sensory, applications and flavor creation teams as well as international colleagues from Carbery (Ireland) and Synergy UK. The Research Scientist will be required to identify and engage with external research organizations and academic institutions who can add value to internal projects. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of encapsulation technologies within the food and flavor industry.
